Research Fellow - The University of Dublin, Ireland

Prof Valeria Nicolosi is looking for a postdoctoral research assistant with significant practical experience in in-situ TEM and aberration corrected STEM. The post is available from 1 October 2015 for 2 years.

You will be responsible for the in-situ TEM (liquid-cell, heating, etc) and the structural characterisation of exfoliated 2Dnano-sheets.

The Candidate will be based at the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory in the CRANN Institute, Trinity College Dublin. The centre centralises cutting-edge microscopy activities in Ireland. Key instruments to this project are an FEI Titan300 (equipped with an EELS and EDS spectrometers and a range of in-situ TEM holders such as a Hummingbird liquid-biasing holder and a DENNS heating holder) and a NION UltraSTEM200.

Applicants should have a PhD (by the start date) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline. As well as experience in in-situ microscopy, HRTEM/STEM and EELS. You should be well-organised and self-motivated with excellent oral and communication skills, plus a strong publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals.
