Job ref: 3656

The York JEOL Nanocentre at the University of York invites applications for 2 postdoctoral research associate posts, each supported for two years on the EPSRC critical mass grant Development and Applications of Aberration Corrected Environmental STEM (AC ESTEM) for Dynamic In-Situ Reaction Studies of Nanoparticle Catalysts (EP/J018058/1).

The posts support applications in nanoparticle-based heterogeneous catalysis using the novel atomic resolution and single atom sensitive gas atmosphere hot stage ESTEM developed at York. The goal is world-class fundamental understanding of catalyst selectivity, activity and stability atom-by-atom. The work involves model and industrial systems, both metals and oxides, and includes work for industry, with scope for individual contributions and publications in a team environment.

You are expected to have, or soon to get, a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or an appropriate branch of Engineering, ideally involving experience of quantitative high resolution electron microscopy of catalysts or related nanoparticle systems, or equivalent experience.
