We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Nano Science and Technology group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by the KETEP Grant (Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning) and is available for up to 2 years, starting as soon as possible.

The overall project is aimed at addressing significant challenges concerning noble metals-zero low-temperature fuel cells based on high functional and multi-dimensional carbon nanostructures. You will be responsible for colloid synthesis of nanostructured materials including transition metals and oxides, nitride, and carbide as well as for characterisation and fabrication of electrochemical device/electrode materials.

You should hold a PhD in materials science or a closely related subject. You will need excellent knowledge of fuel cells, batteries and capacitors. You should have expertise inshape controlled synthesis of nanostructured materials as well as the development of processing routes for colloid synthesis through both hydrothermal and thermal-decomposition methods and experience of characterisation and fabrication of electrochemical materials/devices.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Jung Inn Sohn: junginn.sohn@eng.ox.ac.uk .

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 18 June 2014 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
