Starting at the earliest possible date.
The PostDoc position will initially be for 1 year.
Deadline for application is 30 June 2014.

The position is available in the research group of Prof. C.T. Koch in the area of theoretical transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. W. Van den Broek, working on expanding the software implementation of inverse dynamical electron scattering (IDES).

IDES is a recent reconstruction algorithm that allows retrieval of the three-dimensional object potential with arbitrary imaging modes of the TEM since it takes the multiple electron scattering into account exactly. The focus of this project is on improving the software implementation of IDES for the HRTEM imaging mode and on improving the prior alignment of the measurements, thereby paving the road to reconstructions from experimental images. Furthermore, IDES will be expanded to more complex modes like ptychography.

This project will mostly involve software development: Quick prototyping and testing in either MATLAB or Python, followed by an implementation on the graphics processing unit (GPU) with CUDA.
