One Postdoctoral Position in Organic/ Polymer Chemistry Available in the Group of Dr. Ranjith Krishna Pai (Associate Professor, CNMS, Jain University)

Applications are invited for one postdoctoral position for a project entitled “Organic electronics for solar cells and transistors” at Center for Nano and Material Sciences (CNMS), Jain University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Ph.D in Organic/ Polymer Chemistry OR Electrical engineering.

2. Prospective candidates should have a Ph.D. in Organic/Polymer Chemistry OR electrical engineering.

Good experimental skills (experience with electronic equipment certainly helps). A solid basic understanding of semiconductor physics and/or optoelectronics. Ideally, the applicant should have experience with organic electronics. The ability to work closely and collaborate with colleagues is a must. Proficiency with the English language is required.

Conditions of employment:

The university offers a salary of Rs 35000/- per month. Appointment is for 1 year, and can be extended to 2-3 years based on performance. Candidates must be trained in organic/polymer synthetic methodologies, chromatographic purification and characterization of the compounds (IR, NMR and other commonly used spectroscopy technique).

About project:

New material design, solar cell fabrication, optimization and testing. We are seeking candidates with an expertise in organic thin films for use in electroluminescence, solar cells, thin film transistors and other photonic devices.

Qualifications should include hands-on, in-depth experience with the design, vacuum deposition, device fabrication, analysis and characterization of active optical components such as organic solar cells, detectors & to perform I-V measurements and calculate critical parameters such as short circuit current density (Jsc mA cm-2), open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF), power conversion efficiency (PCE) etc.

Successful candidates should be able to work on independent research projects, as well as maintaining laboratory facilities and infrastructure is an important part of the job.
