Postdoctoral position in “Colliodal nanocrystal devices”

Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - IIT - was founded with the objective of promoting Italy’s technological development and further education in science and technology. In this sense, IIT is committed to achieving its scientific program, which sees its major inspirational principle in the integration between basic scientific research and the development of technical applications. Research covers scientific areas of high innovative content, representing the most advanced frontiers of modern technology with wide application opportunities in various fields: from medicine to industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnology.

For the advertised position the candidate will work at the cutting edge of exploiting nanoscale control on chemical transformations for device fabrication. Our group pioneers the masking of cation exchange reaction via irradiation with high energy beams (Nano Letters 14, page 2116) and this project shall demonstrate the capability of this method for optoelectronic device fabrication and showcase its versatility.

The project is embedded in the framework of the ERC Consolidator Grant TRANS-NANO assigned to Prof. Liberato Manna.

We offer a post-doctoral position in Genova with competitive annual remuneration depending on the experience of the candidate.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in condensed matter physics, nanoscale materials and semiconductor devices.

Expertise in nanofabrication and clean room processing  will be considered a plus.

The post doc researcher will design and investigate electronic prototype devices based on colloidal nanocrystals by  exploiting chemical transformations in nanomaterials. He/she will work in a strongly interdisciplinary environment between chemistry and semiconductor physics, including supervision of PhD students, and will closely collaborate with scientists studying the fundamentals of chemical nanocrystal transformations.

Interested candidates should send their CV with 2 letters of recommendation before November 30, 2014 to roman krahne@iit.it and iulia.manolache@iit.it quoting ‘’REF 38 Post doc transformation devices’’ in the subject header.
