"Spicy world of NanoScience"
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University of Leicester, UK. The aim of the research will be to exploit helium nanodroplets to trap chemical reaction intermediates. Laser spectroscopy will then be applied to extract structural information. This approach is expected to provide important new information on key reaction intermediates and weakly-bound entrance and exit channel complexes on reaction potential energy surfaces.
The post holder will join a research group which is extremely well equipped and which is also well staffed, with a healthy mix of postdoctoral research associates and PhD, MSc, and undergraduate students. The appointed person will be given considerable leeway to develop the research programme alongside delivering the research goals. He/she will report to Prof. Andrew M. Ellis and Dr Shengfu Yang and will liaise with other researchers in the Spectroscopy and Dynamics Group at the University of Leicester, as well as national and international collaborators, as appropriate.
The post is for a fixed term of 24 months and is expected to be available from the 1st May 2013, although the precise starting date is negotiable.
To apply you must have a PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant area of Chemistry or Physics at the starting date of the post. Informal enquiries are encouraged and should be directed to Prof. Andrew M. Ellis (ame2(a)le.ac.uk) or Dr Shengfu Yang (sfy1(a)le.ac.uk). To see the selection criteria and/or to make a formal application please visit our recruitment website at www.le.ac.uk/joinus or contact our recruitment service via email (recruitment(a)le.ac.uk). The closing date for applications is midnight on 11th March 2013.
Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.
There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!
