Postdoctoral Position at Argonne National Laboratory

Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Photoionization and Photodissociation Dynamics at Argonne National Laboratory

A postdoctoral appointment is available at Argonne National Laboratory to perform laser-based studies of the photoionization and photodissociation dynamics of small molecules and free radicals. This position will involve a considerable amount of experimental laboratory work, and will involve the use of a variety of experimental techniques, including four-wave mixing to generate vacuum ultraviolet light, resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy, velocity-map photoion and photoelectron imaging, and high-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy. One aspect of this work is to develop imaging techniques for the determination of the absolute photoionization cross sections of reactive species. The work will also include some computer programming to interface new laboratory instrumentation using Labview. The applicant should be a recent (or soon-to-be) Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, and have experience in experimental chemical, atomic, or molecular physics.  Please send a curriculum vitae and the names of three references to Stephen Pratt at stpratt@anl.gov. Argonne National Laboratory is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
