The researcher will conduct research on the micro-sized hearing organs found in many insects. This work will involve the use of a wide range of research techniques, including finite element simulation, experimental measurement and data analysis. Experimental measurements will include work with a new 3D scanning laser vibrometer, and a new x-ray CT scanning system. Training will be provided in the use of these new experimental systems, and in the development of finite element simulations, as appropriate to the new Research Associate. As a Research Associate you will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team, working together to take the findings from investigations of different insect ears to inform the development of new artificial acoustic sensors. |
