A postdoctoral position on "Dynamics of excitons and charge carriers in two-dimensional materials beyond graphene" is available in the group of prof. Laurens Siebbeles at TU Delft in The Netherlands (website of group: www.cheme.tudelft.nl/om). The project is a collaboration with Toyota Motor Europe.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials consisting of sheets of atoms are of great interest for application in (opto)electronics (transistors, solar cells, sensors) and thermoelectrics. Examples of 2D materials to be studied include transition metal dichalcogenides (MoS2, MoSe2, WS2, WSe2) and phosphorene. The finite band gap of these materials offers new perspectives that go beyond graphene. This project is carried out in collaboration with Toyotor Motor Europe.
You will prepare single sheets and stacked structures of sheets by chemical/mechanical exfoliation techniques or by chemical synthesis. You will study the dynamics of photoexcited states and charge carriers with femtosecond and nanosecond pump-probe laser techniques, including microwave and terahertz conductivity measurements. Particular attention will paid to multiple exciton generation (MEG) by the absorption of a single photon. MEG is important for development of highly efficient solar cells. Materials with promising prospects will be studied in solar cell devices.

To apply, please e-mail a detailed CV and at least two recommendation letters along with a letter of application (1/2 A4) to Prof.dr. L.D.A. Siebbeles, email: L.D.A.Siebbeles@tudelft.nl.
