A postdoctoral position is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated Post-doctoral fellow to join our ANR (the French National Research agency) funded research project. The successful candidate will explore the organization of DNA in the bacteriophage capsid during the infection process by using cryo-electron microscopy and Xray diffraction methods. Innovative methods will also be developed to study the DNA encapsidation process inside the bacteria and the packing of newly assembled capsids. Several bacteriophages species will be compared to explore how the confinement modifies the organization of the genetic material inside the capsid and the DNA ejection processes.
- Applicants are expected to have a PhD degree and strong background either in electron microscopy and/or biochemistry and/or image analysis and/or virology and/or microbiology. Specific experience in cryo-electron microscopy and/or electron tomography will be highly appreciated but candidate with no experience in this domain will be considered if they are highly motivated.
- We are seeking an independent individual with excellent communication skills and team spirit, interested by interdisciplinary approaches.
- Good written and oral skills in English are required. The position is open immediately. Funding is available for one year. Salary of the successful candidate will be based on experience and qualifications. Funding will be searched for a second/third year if the candidate is successful.
