The Nanodevices Group at the CIC nanoGUNE Consolider Research Center in San Sebastian is currently looking for 2 PhD Students (Physics/Materials Science/Engineering/Chemistry) who are interested in working in an inspiring international and interdisciplinary environment in the areas of: Spin transport in organic semiconductors or Multifunctional materials and devices The research will involve the growth of complex magnetic/organic hybrid materials, their structural characterization and the detailed study of their magnetic and electrical transport properties. Devices will be fabricated in the centre's fully-equipped clean room. The research proposed will answer fundamental questions in both areas, such as the possibility of tuning a spin tunnelling current by molecular selection, the electrical spin manipulation in carbon materials or the feasibility of designing complex hybrid materials which react to both electrical and magnetic fields. Recent work on the above research topics by the lead scientist of our team can be found in the following articles: Physical Review B 78, 115203 (2008); Organic Electronics 9, 911 (2008); Advanced Materials 19, 2639 (2007); Physical Review B 76, 045406 (2007); Nature 445, 410 (2007); Applied Physics Letters 88, 083120 (2006). CIC nanoGUNE Consolider, located in San Sebastian, Basque Country (Spain), is a recently founded Research& Development Centre with the mission of conducting basic and applied world-class research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, fostering training and education excellence, and supporting the growth of a nanotechnology-based industry. Requirements Candidates should have a degree in physics, materials science, engineering or chemistry. Experience in one or more of the following experimental techniques would be preferred but is not a prerequisite: UHV systems, sputtering, AFM, data acquisition, photolithography and low-temperature electrical transport. The candidate should be self-motivated, a team player, and wiling to learn new experimental techniques from materials science to nanoscale physics. Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory. more info: http://www.nanogune.eu/ofertas/ctrl_ofertas.php?accion=card&id=14&CK=ed33e6b6fc1cae83b0d128f743c7e8b9 Applicants should forward their CV to: Dr. Luis E.
