Ohio becomes Home of Carbon Nanotechnology and state’s first molecular nanotechnology company hosts a Commercialization PANEL AT NANOTECH 2012

Columbus, Ohio & Santa Clara, CA. - (June 20, 2012) - The world's first and largest company to develop and commercialize carbon nanotechnology products, Zyvex Technologies, announced as part of its 15th anniversary that it is today hosting a special session at Nanotech 2012, part of TechConnect World. The session is called “Carbon Nanotechnology: From Chemistry to Commercialization - Why Relationships are More Important than Technology”.


“Zyvex is a great example of a best practice firm that has developed an effective formula for working with large partners,” said Michael Tomczyk, managing director of the The Mack Center for Innovation, at The Wharton School. His book “Nanoinnovation: What Every Manager Needs to Know” will be published later this year and features Zyvex as a best-practice example.


At the Zyvex session at Nanotech 2012, university scientists and start-up and corporate venture leaders plan to hear the importance of developing real applications, connecting the IP to markets, products and partnerships while pursuing investment, creating new revenue and building relationships with partners, investors and customers.


Zyvex moved from Texas to Ohio in 2007. A focus on building relationships is what catapulted the company to earn government and academic grants, including one from Ohio’s Third Frontier program. The State of Ohio this month proclaimed Ohio as the Home of Carbon Nanotechnology. “Zyvex has grown to be both an advanced materials expert and a pioneer of carbon nanotechnology and the commercialization of these important materials,” said John R. Kasich, Governor of the State of Ohio.


Each quarter, Lux Research analysts identify the 10 most compelling companies in its coverage areas after surveying 328 companies across 15 different emerging technology domains. In the first quarter of 2012 it named Zyvex Technologies a Top 10 Innovative company. “Zyvex Technologies is executing on its savvy business strategies,” said Lux Research analysts in the report dated May 3. “Combining a savvy business strategy with its core proprietary polymer technology, Zyvex is one of the few developers to successfully commercialize structural nanocomposites,” announced the firm.


In addition to Michael Tomcyzk, advanced materials experts on the Nanotech 2012 panel plan to speak about strategies to move carbon nanotechnology from chemistry to commercialization. They include:
