Greetings and welcome to another brand new edition of the Quantum newsletter! In India, we're in the last lap of summer, awaiting the first lash of monsoons to bring in much needed respite. Just like the transition phase nanotechnology is in India, waiting for that one large wave to help this wonderful technology reach out to the mass, and to help change the way we are doing a whole lot of things.

Take the Construction Industry for example: nanotechnology can make a huge difference. While the Industry is on an upswing, there is really no strides in developing cost-friendly, eco-friendly, sustainable construction methods to make housing more affordable and green. This is where construction companies need to sit up and take notice, invest in nanotechnology to help build structures that belong to the future. And which is precisely why, this issue is focused on the construction space. So here's to a nano-technology enabled home and office space in the near future. Cheers!

TWO TINY SOLDIERS SHATTER CONSTRUCTION MYTHS!

Two nano materials are making a significant contribution to the use of nanotechnology in the construction industry: Carbon Nano Tubes (CNTs) and Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). CNTs are being used to strengthen and monitor the performance of concrete, thanks to their property of possessing exceptional strength, while Titanium Dioxide has the ability to breakdown the stubbornness of dirt and pollution and allows it to be washed off by rain water easily from any material it is on, concrete to glass.

NANOTECHNOLOGY CAN TRANSFORM CONSTRUCTION THEORIES

Imagine this: A simple treating of an entire building surface with nano-coating can make the building fire-resistant! Or those super-strong buildings that stay put even in the event of a storm or an earthquake! That is the kind of transformation nanotechnology can have over construction concepts and theories, and research firms are doing just that. Nanotechnology is being researched and developed to make construction faster, affordable, safer and environment-friendly. Here are some materials into when nano particles can be incorporated to make the material, much more enhanced in its properties.
