New laboratories set to let customers try out customised nano-material production on 4SPIN device.

In early October, the Contipro holding will be opening a new showroom laboratory to demonstrate the options offered by 4SPIN, its newly marketed device for creating nanofibers and nanoparticles from a wide range of materials, including biopolymers, and for controlling the extent to which they are aligned. Many sectors, including medicine, will be able to put the device to good use.

The new lab where prospective customers can try out the nanomaterial producing machine for themselves is located in the Czech Republic, in Central Europe, and is part of a new research complex expanding the current 1700 m² of laboratory premises already in use here. This is an opportunity for customers to give nanofiber production from their required material a test run to optimise the process parameters and to check the results on a top-class electron microscope, with the Contipro holding’s applied research experts on hand to provide advice.

Contipro’s research teams specialise in tissue engineering, nanotechnology, wound healing, the targeted distribution of compounds, and anti-ageing. The biopolymer chemical modification team, the tissue engineering materials team and the R&D team, focusing on the development of final nanomaterial applications for medicine, stand ready to offer specialist consulting.

Contipro is a holding comprising innovation-driven biotechnology companies. 4SPIN, a device developed in the holding’s laboratories, has been created with a stress on the ability to produce nanofibers even from materials that are hard to spin. It can produce nanofibers with a high degree of alignment (up to 97%, compared to the normal 80%), and is able to create nanofibers with a coaxial structure. The fact that the device might be used in clean rooms used for pharmaceutical production has been taken into account during development. Pilot and fully operating versions are being developed.
