NanoCom

The NanoCom coordinated action is funded by the European Commission under the FP7 NMP Programme and brings together a strong consortium of sixteen partners from industry and academia with expertise in nanotechnologies from across Europe.

The project, of duration 36 months, commenced on 1stDecember 2009. It aims to contribute towards bridging the gap between lab based and industrial applications in nanotechnology. This will be achieved by creating a European wide approach with mechanisms for lowering the barriers to commercialisation and spreading open innovation best practice for rapid commercialisation and investment in innovative nanotechnology driven products.

The NanoCom vision is supported by the following key objectives:

  1. A critical analysis of barriers for rapid commercialisation of emerging Micro and Nano Technologies that result from many complementary EC, national and industrially funded Research and Development (R&D) projects;

  2. Analysis and promotion of best practices via new nanotechnology and nano-manufacturing specific open innovation methodology and tools and provide roadmapping, policy and investment advice at EU, national and regional levels;

  3. Creation of a commercialisation oriented forum and mechanisms for coordinating the efforts of many complementary R&D projects in ERA;

  4. Training and dissemination in best practices for open innovation and commercialisation of nanotechnology.

 Over the course of the NanoCom project, public deliverables addressing the specific objectives highlighted, are being made available through the NanoCom and NANOfutures websites. To download the latest deliverable documents please visit: www.nanocom-eu.org/NanoCom/Dissemination.html
