At TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering,
Institute of Materials Science, Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology, the position of

Member of academic staff (E 13 TV-L)

is open to work on the modeling of thermal processes. The position,
which is connected to the joint project "Local temperature analysis as a
base for intelligent thermal management for raising the efficiency of lithium
ion batteries", concerns investigations in the subproject "Modeling and
simulation of the temperature development". The position will start at the
earliest possible date and run up to 30.10.2014. The period of
employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Acts
(WissZeitVG).
The scientific activities of the Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology (Prof. G. Cuniberti) are focused on developing non
conventional strategies for novel materials and devices with intrinsic
nanoscale complexity.
Tasks: The aim is the mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of
the temperature development during charging and discharging of
lithium-ion battery cells. Main numerical method will be the finite element
method. The theoretical investigations shall be done in close collaboration
with partners at the Fraunhofer IKTS Dresden and at the IFW Dresden,
where corresponding experimental investigations will be performed within
two other subprojects.
Requirements: The candidates with excellent university degree in
materials science, natural science, mathematics, or engineering are
expected to have expertise in the modeling of heat conduction or reaction-
diffusion-systems. A working knowledge of the finite element method will
be of great benefit. We target at top-notch dedicated and proactive young
scientists who plan to make their mark in science.

Applicants should send their application documents, including a letter of
motivation, Curriculum Vitae, publication list, and two reference letters until
15.06.2013 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service
applies), to TU Dresden, Fakultaet Maschinenwesen, Institut fuer
Werkstoffwissenschaft, Professur fuer Materialwissenschaft und
Nanotechnik, Herrn Prof. Dr. Gianaurelio Cuniberti, 01062 Dresden,
Germany or as a single pdf file to jobs(a)nano.tu-dresden.de Subject:
