Medinano-5, the fifth installation of the Mediterranean Nanophotonics conference, just ended. This year the conference was held in Barcelona, Spain, and lasted two days. What's great about this series is that it attracts an unusual collection of people that you normally don't see all in the same place. There is also a focus on young group leaders from Mediterranean countries, which opens the opportunity to see some new faces.
This year featured keynote talks by Federico Capasso and Michel Orrit, neither of whom I've seen before. Very good speakers, with interesting topics. Also, my favorite topic at the moment, graphene nano-optics, featured in two talks.
In general, this was a very good experience. Can't wait to find out where the next conference of the series will be!
