Congress Programme Online

The programme for Industrial Technologies 2012 has now been published and can be viewed at the event website.

It includes sessions which discuss the latest developments in resource-efficient process industries, agile manufacturing, low-emission transportation, energy-positive buildings and districts as well as the availability of raw materials. The programme also includes a session stream addressing the challenge of taking innovative research to commercial exploitation.

As the year’s main meeting place for the European industrial technologies community, the event also has a number of associated workshops, from organisations including Nanofutures, the GTS Danish research consortium in collaboration with EARTO, ESTEP, Foundation of Rare Metals, SafeFuture, SmartNets, just to name a few.

Innovation at Your Fingertips

Engineering plays an important role in contributing to the challenges of the 21st century.

In Aarhus, the MANTRA truck showcases innovations at your fingertips from the field of engineering. It has been established by the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Boeing UK, Rolls-Royce and Mori Seiki.

Besides the ManTra truck, over 85 exhibitors from industry, EU-projects, research organisations, European institutions and initiatives will be present. Read more

New Approaches in Global Competition

Sang-il Park, the CEO of Park Systems Corporation is a paradigm of a scientist turning into a successful businessman.

Dr. Park claims that Korea’s traditional growth model based on product counterfeit and cost- efficiency no longer works.

Korea has become the home of many world class industries. However, the technical difficulty and product complexity force many Korean industries to re-think their strategies in order to stay competitive on the global market.

He claims in his presentation at Industrial Technologies 2012, that the solution to this dilemma is increased global cooperation. He advocates that global cooperation in basic research, product development, and other applications is vital for sustainable growth.

Markets Beyond Tomorrow

Ulrich Buller, the Senior Vice President of Fraunhofer, is responsible for research planning of the largest research organization in Europe. Fraunhofer employs around 18,000 people and has huge annual research budget of 1.65 billion euros.

The answer on the question "Are high-end approaches in nanotechnology hard to understand for the public?" is suprising: They think about people and their needs for health, energy, communication, mobility and security.

How does Fraunhofer respond to these needs? “We are creative. We shape technology. We design products. We improve methods and techniques. We open up new vistas. In short, we forge the future”.
