Introduction: The College of Engineering at Swansea University invites applications for a 3-year fully-funded PhD studentship. About the project: The Multidisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre (MNC) has a number of EPSRC funded PhD studentships to award in 2012/13. We are looking to recruit students of the highest calibre across a range of activities within the Centre. The Nanoscale Devices and Sensors PhD project can potentially focus on a wide range of research on the development of electrical, mechanical and optical sensors based on nanotechnology. The use of nanowire structures for molecular sensing and monitoring is a particular strength, as is the development of nanotechnology based blood coagulation monitoring systems.
