Fully funded 3-year PhD studentship in NanoChemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Leicester, UK
You are invited to apply a newly opened fully funded 3-year PhD studentship at Department of Chemistry, University of Leicester, UK. The title of the research project is: "Quantized vortices in nanoscale superfluid helium: novel nanoscience and Physical Origin".
You will join in an internationally leading research group, with focus on Physical Chemistry and NanoChemistry. In our group the research is based on superfluid helium droplets, to which molecules/atoms are added and aggregate into nanoparticles. High degree of control over the growth can be obtained, and core-shell nanoparticles can be readily formed by the sequential addition of different types of materials to the droplets. Currently, our research involves both nanoparticles and nanowires. In the PhD project you will work on the synthesis of novel nanomaterials and exploit their applications in photonics and plasmonics.
