Location: This post is based in the UK and involves extensive travel, primarily across the UK and Europe, with some travel outside Europe. This is a demanding and rewarding professional position which offers the candidate the opportunity to interact with the broader EM community in Europe and beyond.

Qualifications or Skills Required: We require a person with strong mechanical, electrical and computer skills and significant practical experience in TEM or SEM. The successful applicant could have either a research microscopy background or substantial experience in the care and maintenance of electron microscopes. The applicant must be a self starter with a strong customer service focus and be able to work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills are required.

Familiarity with DigitalMicrograph is desirable. It is also a significant benefit if the applicant is able to read and interpret schematics and electrical diagrams at the component level.

Responsibilities: The Field Service System Engineer is responsible for:

• On-site installation and repair of Gatan TEM cameras and Imaging Filters
• Customer training after installation
• Remote diagnosis and repair
• Preventive maintenance
• Documenting service performed
• Proposing design enhancements and improvements to existing design
