The University of Missouri is seeking an Assistant Research Professor for the Center for Physical and Power Electronics, School of Engineering (http://cppe1.missouri.edu).  This is a non-tenure track, non-ranked teaching/research position that will have an emphasis in the field of advanced materials development for pulsed power applications.

Responsibilities:  Job duties will include conducting and managing experimental and theoretical investigations on both the development of novel materials and their application in electrical devices including antennas, capacitors and plasmas.  Job duties also include the production of reports for both internal progress evaluation and delivery to sponsoring agencies.  Supervision and management of both undergraduate and graduate student work will be required.  Two-three publications yearly in academic journals are required.  Preparation of proposals for external funding of research is required.

Qualifications 

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics.  The position requires interdisciplinary experience in the fields of electrical engineering and materials science.  Electrical engineering experience should include pulsed power, power electronics, and high-powered microwaves.  Materials science experience should include composites, nanotechnology, dielectrics and magnetic materials.  Experimental modeling capabilities with CST Studio and MATLAB is helpful.  Should also have experience with high voltage systems, antenna measurement, materials characterization and basic programming and machining/prototyping abilities.  Familiarity with the operations of university and government funded programs required, as well as the ability to manage people and to mentor students on both the undergraduate and graduate level.  Because of the grant funded nature of this position, US citizenship is required.
