2nd SPM thematic week - minusK: Multi Isolator Systems

3439921616?profile=originalThe NEW CM-1 is a compact high capacity, low-frequency negative-stiffness isolator. The CM-1 isolators come in several capacity ranges to match your vibration-sensitive instruments such as SPMs (AFMS, STMs, etc), micro-hardness testers, profilers, interferometers, electron microscopes, or other imaging systems.

3439921660?profile=originalThe CM-1 isolators can be placed on pedestals to bring them to an appropriate height to retrofit your existing air table, enabling you to keep your existing table top and achieve much better isolation. As with all Minus K isolators, they are completely passive and use no air or electricity. The isolators can be combined into multi isolator systems to support heavy payloads while taking up very little room themselves.

The SM-1 isolator can be used alone or with any number of additional units to achieve higher capacity systems. They can be arranged in many geometrical configurations to suit your application. This isolator has the same basic features of our all passive, negative-stiffness, manually-adjustable bench top isolators. It offers our very-low frequency isolation performance for payloads of many thousands of pounds.

Minus K's FP-1 floor platforms can be made for SEM, TEM, STEM or other custom needs. The FP-1 consists of a large platform, two or three Minus K® SM-1 or CM-1 negative-stiffness vibration isolators, outriggers which connect the platform to the isolators, isolator floor and jack screw plates which help to spread the load on the floor and ballast weights. Platforms have been made to handle over 8 tons on four SM-1 isolators. The use of the FP-1 floor platforms have made it possible to place a TEM on the 5th floor of a building and still bring the TEM into the manufacturer's specifications.

The system can achieve natural frequencies of 0.5 Hz or less, vertical and horizontal, with all external line, hoses and cables disconnected from the isolated payload and the internal isolators locked out. (with most microscopes the external lines, hoses and cables have a relatively small effect on the isolation system performance).

Custom

3439921853?profile=originalWhether your applications is 1 lb or more than 50,000 lbs, Minus K can scale their negative-stiffness vibration isolation products to meet the needs. Minus K Technology, Inc. has been to provide vibration isolators for the ground testing of the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). The JWST will be placed in a vacuum chamber at the Johnson Space Center and supported by a set of custom Minus K vibration isolators handling over 50,000 lbs. on 6 isolators.

All of Minus K's isolators can me made vacuum and clean room compatible. They have made their bench top isolators vacuum compatible for both the German Center for Aerospace (DLR), European Space Research and Technology Centre/European Space Agency (ESTEC/ESA).
