1 PhD /EU Marie Curie ESR position - Mainz, Germany

The Department of Physics at Interfaces of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany) seeks an outstanding, highly motivated PhD student to investigate the dynamics of wetting of complex liquids. The project is part of the EU ITN project “(CoWet)”.

Description

The Department of Physics at Interfaces of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany) seeks an outstanding, highly motivated PhD student to investigate the dynamics of wetting of complex liquids.Wetting of surfactant solutions is a part of every day experience and important in many processes: cleaning windows, washing cars, cleaning silicon wafers, coating surfaces with nano-inks. Despite this broad applications, many fundamental aspects of these precesses are still not under stood. For a PhD position in the frame work of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network “CoWet” we search for a physics oriented candidate who is interested to work on the understanding and control of Marangoni effect in forced wetting by surfactant and protein solutions. The ideal candidate has a background in at least one of the following fields hydrodynamics, physical chemistry of surfactants, automated image analysis, confocal microscopy.

Benefits

Extensive scientific and soft skills training program within ITN-CoWet. Standard Marie Curie ITN EU contract for a PhD/ESR.
