DFG-NSF Project Nanostructure and Calorimetry of Amorphous SiCN and SiBCN Ceramics (Darmstadt)

The overall goal of the research project is to correlate the molecular structure of silicon-based preceramic polymers with the ceramic microstructure derived therefrom and to study the thermal stability of the synthesized materials in terms of decomposition, phase separation and crystallization. This procedure will allow to explain the interrelations between precursor, microstructure and properties.

As a Materials World Network project, this brings together researchers in Germany and… Continue

Supramolecular engineering of cell fate

In our group tools from Supramolecular Chemistry are used to engineer cell fate. Cell adhesion, migration and differentiation are important for various applications such as tissue engineering. This project is a collabortion with the medical centre in Enschede and cell biologists to improve the design of stent materials.

The project deals with functionalizing and synthesizing proteins and peptides with supramolecular ligands, which are used for anchoring them onto (stent) surfaces that…

Nanometer Scale Spectroscopic Investigations of Bacteria Biofilm Formation (Tuebingen)

Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) has emerged as a frequent

cause of nosocomial infections in association with indwelling medical

devices such as intravascular catheters, prosthetic heart valves,

prosthetic joints, and artificial pacemakers. The virulence of such kind

of bacteria in these infections is thought to be based on its ability

to colonize medical devices by forming a biofilm composed of

multilayered cell clusters embedded in a slime… Continue

Welcome

Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.

There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!
