Studies on l-histidine capped Ag and Au nanoparticles for dopamine detection

This work demonstrates the effective surface functionalization of Ag, Au and bimetallic Ag-Au nanoparticles using l-histidine for colorimetric detection of dopamine (DA) which plays majorly in recognizing the neurological disorder. l-Histidine (l-His) capped Ag, Au, and bimetallic Ag-Au nanoparticles are characterized using physico-chemical techniques. The optical behaviour of nanoparticles has been analysed at various time intervals using UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. FT-IR results…

Formulation of bactericidal cold cream against clinical pathogens using Cassia auriculata flower extract- synthesized Ag nanoparticles

A simple formulation of bactericidal cold cream using the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Cassia auriculata flower extract and their antibacterial activity was tested against various clinical pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. An ecofriendly method was followed for the biosynthesis of AgNPs using C. auriculata flower extract as a reducing agent at room temperature. The effect of different…

Microbicidal Tissue Paper Using Green Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles

Microbicidal tissue paper is made by a simple method of impregnating biosynthesized silver nanoparticles with the conventional tissue paper. A number of infections are being transmitted by conventional tissue paper especially through hospitals. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by green synthetic route using the leaf extract of Eichornia crassipes, further characterized using UV Vis spectroscopy exhibiting a SPR peak at 413 nm and HRTEM having a size between 20 to 50 nm. We have…

Fabrication of chitosan–magnetite nanocomposite strip for chromium removal

Environmental pollution caused by heavy metals is a serious threat. In the present work, removal of chromium was carried out using chitosan–magnetite nanocomposite strip. Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4) were synthesized using chemical co-precipitation method at 80 °C. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV– visible spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared spec-troscopy, X-ray diffraction spectrometer, atomic force microscope, dynamic light scattering and vibrating sample…

Postdoc position on DNA grafting on nanostructure for X-ray holographic recording

The concept of holography has been proposed in the 40s by Dennis Gabor for electron microscopy. Then the invention of the laser made possible its application for authentication or for optical metrology. The molecular identification by imaging techniques applied to macromolecules (polymer or deoxyribonucleic acid DNA) is a complementary alternative methods for analysis and sequencing [1]. LETI has already studied surface functionalization techniques and DNA grafting [2] and have developed an…

Welcome - about us

Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.

There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!

Nanopaprika is always looking for new partners, if you have any idea, contact me at editor@nanopaprika.eu
