  • Dear Eshetu,

You are welcome for the event.

  • Thank you very much for the updates and information. I hope many people from our nework will be there to attend this great conference by world class speakers.
  • Dear Sir/Madam,

We invite you to our International workshop on nanotechnology in solar and energy storage applications organized by Amrita Center for Nanosciences (Nanosolar Division) to be held in Kochi, Kerala on February 24th 2012. This will be a one-day workshop which will be carried out concurrently with the International Nano-Bio Conference from Feb 21st to Feb 23rd 2012.

This workshop intends to have brainstorming sessions to identify critical thrust areas and take advantage of the added value of nanomaterials in solar cells and storage devices. The plenary address will be given by world-renowned chemist Professor Michael Grätzel (winner of the 2010 Millennium Technology Prize for his invention of Dye sensitized solar cell). Our workshop will be an event that will bring eminent scientist from all over India.

List of speakers for plenary talk in this event:

Dr. Michael Gratzel, Inventor of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland)
    Dr. G. Sundararajan (ARCI, Hyderabad)
Dr. B. Bhargava (MNRE, New Delhi)
Dr. Shantikumar V Nair (ACNS, Kochi)

    Nanosolar 2012 Team.

  • Dear all, please apply to our programme in materials for energy storage and conversion for master programme. Please also advice to apply to it. It is an Erasmus Mundus ( Europen level programme) which is given in 8 universities including in USA, Chine, France, Spain and Poland. This programme have a lot of company collaborators and the opportunity for  your or:and your friends future career is so bright.

It is a very attractive scholarship, abour 42,000 euro for the two year master programme.

Please go to : http://www.u-picardie.fr/mundus_MESC/ and apply as soon as possible.
  • Dear Desu,

Thank you very much for your very interesting analysis and a very invaluable and interesting idea. Ya sure, we have to push forward and we have not to wait others to do for us. It is a timely issue for the world to escape from the various challenges that is facing today particularly with the energy crisis. As we are living now in the era where science could put a great contribution towards solving all the problems, we have to make use of it to its full range.

Erasmus Mundus students are just samples but as you know we have a lot of determined people who are studying and working abroad. So the main purpose has to be only to galvanize all these resource people and cooperate with the rest of the world and move forward with the speed that can help to mitigate our current multifaceted challenges.

So, Desu just let us go forward one step and we will soon arrange one nanoscience event in ethiopia probably in collaboration with the European commission, minstry of science and technology and ministry of education of ethiopia etc.

Let us put some thing on the ground today and let us prepare our generation for the next challenges.

    Thank you once again

  • Dear Gebrie,

I really appreciate the comment you have organized on nanotech from Ethiopia perspective as per the request from a respected professor. I wanna add on that it is a guarantee for our basement that we need to address the reality in our home and give them the chance to play to international top level professors in the area what ever they can in one or another way. I believe that the Erasmus Munds program is a great contribution in this regard. I do not know the professor whom you are communicating with but I guess he is one of the respected professors in the area which we are talking about. Glad to know that.

Truly speaking our Ethiopia has a lot from resource point of view including young potentially fit scholars. The only problem we do have is where we can practice our professional careers. As you mentioned it our government seems to take a positive move in science area from high school level but still we need to tell them that universities need to be organized for the incoming students for practical work. I know nano laboratories are a bit expensive to organize but with our great determination and support from people in the area, our dream will be realized very soon.

. One thing everyone should know is that Ethiopia need to take a position in addressing the current globally hot issue which is global warming. The only way we can do it is to look for environmentally friendly energy source, which in turn can be accomplished if and only if we live in nanoscience environment. Let's stand together and contribute our part for the world at large and Ethiopia in particular.

Hope things are smooth with you.

    Best,

    Desalegn

  • Here I am Gebrie.

    Hope things are going well.

MIT builds Battery From Bacterial Virus To Power Machines

Today Nanoscience is playing a great role in the industry of Batteries and other energy storage and conversion devices. Currently MIT has shown to fabricate Battery from Bacterial virus, which could power machines. Those genetically engineered viruses are able to bring a new generation of battery materials that could power cars, electronic machines etc. For more information, please visit the following link…
