LARGEST CONFERENCE ON NANOMEDICINE IN EUROPE in 2011

CLINAM 2011 in Basel: Largest Platform for Nanomedicine in Europe 2011

Nanomedicine has considerably developed and many clinicians show a lot of interest for this novel emerging field because it will drastically change today’s medicine, in particular by the introduction of targeted drug delivery and personalized medicine. By treating only diseased cells and organs, but sparing healthy tissues through targeted small doses of drugs the ratio of benefit versus harm in medicine can be remarkably improved to the benefit of the patient

After three European Conferences for Clinical Nanomedicine the CLINAM Foundation for Nanomedicine organizes from May 23-25, 2011 the 4th European Conference for Clinical Nanomedicine. The conference focuses on clinical application of novel developments in nanoscience but also includes industrial topics, the expertise form regulatory authorities and discussion on ethical questions and wider implications.

CLINAM is as non profit organisation the leading partner to create in Europe this year’s  largest platform on Nanomedicine, in collaboration with the European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine (ETPN) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Further partners are the European Society for Nanomedicine (esnam) and the European Science Foundation (ESF).  The conference is accompanied by an industrial foyer-exhibition and a University Village where the European University members show their research results in the field.

The joint organizers expect 500 participants for this international gathering between experts from technology and science, research, clinic, policy, politics, regulations and industry stakeholders. Also first venture experts have announced their participation in the conference.

CLINAM 2011  is the true  interdisciplinary platform for problem- and solution-oriented discussion between physicians, and scientists of manifold faculties since Nanomedicine includes expertise from Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medicine, Nanotechnology, Materials Science and Engineering.

CLINAM 2011 reveals the limits and horizons of the promises of nanomedical tools, techniques, and materials in the context of prevalent and unsolved medical problems. The conference starts with the clinicians, reporting unsolved problems in a variety of medical disciplines. Based on these reports nanoscience-based technologies for solving these problems will be discussed. Data and results of many late breaking and ongoing Trials in Nanomedicine shall be presented and debated.

The ETPN organises industrial sessions and a proposal session where participants can reveal their projects and can find co-operation partners.

The European Medicines Agency organises the debate with the experts of Agencies from Japan, USA, Canada and EU Countries where the focus is on the harmonisation of regulations as well as the agencies key role for the support to the development of Nanomedicine to the benefit of the patient.  More information  under  www.clinam.org
