ICT call in Novemer 2009, but what to do, if you need help for doing this? There is a network of National Contact Points http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ncp_en.html and even companies in Brazil or Russia can find a local team helping them into EC funded cooperation. Parallel you can contact experienced collegues, such as the companies organized in the European Technology Platforms (ETP http://cordis.europa.eu/technology-platforms/home_en.html ). For topics around semiconductor industry maybe your eyes are catched by Micro- and Nano Production MINAM www.minamwebportal.eu or or Nanoelectronics ENIAC http://www.eniac.eu/ and you will also find several others. There you can meet experts and potential partners at events or online in the brokerage areas. If you prefer to select your partners online all over Europe and behond, you can use tools like http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/partners_en.htmlYou have still doubts that that it bring benefit and your team can not do it, because it needs to much time? You are manging your customers, your R&D projects and your company, so why should a EC project (were you are working in a team of partners) should be more diffcult? Don't be panic about the paper work, e.g. for the NMP program you have just to prepare a 10 pager for 1st stage with your project idea, the guidelines for proposers published together with evey call gives you detailed overview what has to be offered. There are guidelines how to mangage IPR and sharing knowledge is oriented to bring more and faster benefit for every of the partners. Now you are hungry and looking forward to start?Great, don't hesitate to contact the people in the minam community or any other network you selected for your idea. Co-operative research is oriented to a sustainalbe future for Europe and is build up by benefit for business and is supporting R&D leadership.Andrea E. MOHANhttps://www.nanopaprika.eu/members/KMOHAN
Consumer electronics majors like Samsung and LG have launched washing machines which release nano silver ions during the silver wash. The silver ions are released only if the silver wash option is selected. Silver is known for it's anti-biotic properties and this is banked heavily on for producing such a silver-ion releasing washing machines. The silver ions are said to go into the fabric and kill more than 600 types of bacterium. That's really great when viewed with bactericidal and fungicidal angle. But grave concerns have been raised by enviornmental groups of the world over the likely damage to human and animal cells. Samsung has countered the protest by saying that the nano-silver-ion washing is capable removing hepatitis B Virus as the Virus is also nano-scale.Research is still on to find out the exact effect of such a technology on human health. The action against Virus is a definitely a positive for the medical community if it is held true.Like any other controversial science like stem cell research, cloning, nuclear power generation nano-science has also to be used responsibly. And here is a catch. I happen to be a new consumer of nano-washing machine. I have purchased just for being an advanced model without fully realising the nano element in it. Now having come to know I use the machine without selecting the "silver wash" action!I am sure there may be lakhs of consumers who have purchased just to use a latest technology without knowing the full implications and mechanism of such technology.Average consumers are not all that well versed in science and technology matters. In view of this awareness creation by consumer groups and government is necessary. All such products should be asked to carry a label that it contains nano-particles and nano-particle generators releasing nano-particles during the operation. As companies like samsung have to file a report before may 2009, the consumers may be asked to put on hold the operation of silver wash option in their machines. Thanks fo reading. I invite all the knowledgeable friends' suggestions on this. Voting for safer ingredientshttps://www.nanopaprika.eu/forum/topics/is-the-use-of-nanoscale2009-01-04T14:47:38.000Z2009-01-04T14:47:38.000ZK. MOHANhttps://www.nanopaprika.eu/members/KMOHAN
Cosmetics is one of the areas where materials are used on nano-scale. The usage is supposedly to increase the efficiency of the product. I came across a report in a newspaper raising questions about advisability of using nano-scale materials as ingredients in cosmetics. Sun screen lotions effectively are measured by the SPF(Sun Protection Factor). The higher the SPF the higher the effeciveness. Though this holds good for UV-B radiation, the same can not be effective against UV-A radiatioon. Hence the attempt to use ingredients on nano-scale in the lotion. Apprehensions regarding such have been voiced. What if the ingredients being at nano-scale goes into the cellular levels of the skin.I have always advocated use of natural substances like herbs and plant sources in cosmetics. The more ground the powder is the more is said to be effective in case of herbals and plant origin. In the case of natural ingredients the ultimate aim is to bring about changes in the cellular level by proper nourishment. Therefore my vote is for herbal and plant origin ingredients only as nano-scale ingredients in cosmetics.I conclude that the usage of nano-scale usage depends on the type of materials used. If it is safer can be used.Still the nano-scale material usage is a grey area like genetic modification, stem-cell research, cloning calling for a responsible approachK.Mohan(Mohan Sanjeevan)
Nanotechnology and nanoscience in 2012https://www.nanopaprika.eu/forum/topics/nanotechnology-and-nanoscience2008-12-31T09:39:55.000Z2008-12-31T09:39:55.000ZTINChttps://www.nanopaprika.eu/members/TINC

Nanotechnology and nanoscience in 2012???
