As an Experimental Officer you will work in the Electron Microscopy Centre in the School of Materials. You will have responsibility for the operation, calibration and training of users on the analytical electron microscopes housed in the Electron Microscopy Centre. You will also have responsibility for equipment maintenance and development and will interact directly with FEI concerning service contracts.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in either Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (2.1 or above); expertise in analytical transmission electron microscopy/scanning transmission both in theory and in practice, have demonstrated ability to perform high quality TEM, expertise in STEM-EDX microanalysis techniques and expertise in SEM operation and characterization. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills, be an independent problem-solver and work collaboratively with members of the team and wider school members. It is also important to be able to prioritise your own workload to meet deadlines.
