At the Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), we are looking for a motivated post-doc researcher for a project on synthesis and catalytic application of nanostructured oxides. This position is part of a collaboration project with the University of ABC, in Brazil. During this project, the post-doc researcher will have the opportunity to collaborate with visiting researchers from Brazil and to spend a research period at the Brazilian institution.

Synthesis and catalytic application of nanostructured oxides

The University of Leuven (KU Leuven) was founded in 1425 and is presently a prestigious and internationally renowned university, providing education and carrying out research in many fields of knowledge. It is located in the heart of Belgium, at about 20 km from Brussels. For more information: www.kuleuven.be

The Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis is an internationally recognised research group in the field of catalysis. The group consists of an interdisciplinary team active in a vast range of research topics: synthesis of microporous, mesoporous, nanosized materials and membranes; structural and surface chemistry, liquid-solid and gas-solid interactions; structure-activity relationships in heterogeneous catalysis; supramolecular and environmental catalysis. The research approach is unique as synthesis, characterisation and testing of the catalytic materials are performed under the same roof, thanks to an extensive set of state-of-the-art techniques. Profile

The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent disciplines. A very good practical and theoretical knowledge onthe synthesis of structured materials (e.g. ordered mesoporous materials) and of nanosized metal oxides are assets for this position. Further competences inheterogeneous catalysis, electrocatalysis and electrodriven membraneapplications (batteries, fuel cells) will be highly appreciated. The capability of working in an international environment and a very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) are required.

Offer

A 1-year position is offered, with the possibility of extensions upto a maximum of 3 years. The minimum monthly grant/salary will be around 1850 EUR (net).
