MAPIEM, is a laboratory dedicated to applied and fundamental research in interface composites ageing sciences at the University of Toulon within the marine scientific domain of the international Cluster Pôle Mer-PACA and the aeronautic and space domain of the cluster Pegase (http://mapiem.univ-tln.fr).
It is committed to the development of characterization at nanoscale (mechanic, thermal analysis) in order to determine properties of synthesized ecologically friendly new macromolecules and to understand anti-fouling phenomenon on immersed polymeric substrate and to developp characterisation at nanoscale of thermomechanical properties at interface of composites materials and coatings.
In a collaborative project of the Department of chemistry and Material of the Toulon University and the Department of Material and Chemistry of the Nice University, an vacancy will be available in November or December 2013 for a 1-year Postdoctoral Position (with potential extension to 2 years by a Marie Curie fellowships)
The project “Surface Nanostructuration and developpement of nanothermal characterization of ultra thin nanostructured thermosets films” is funded by the regional Research Program 64 (APEX 2012-2014) “Fundamentals science and Risks in nanosciences”. The program rules enforce applicant to be non french citizen.
1-year Postdoctoral Position (with potential extension to 2 years)
The main project goals are:
- to develop nanostructured surface or geometry inducing nanostructuration in the thermosets films during the crosslinking
- to identify and characterize the mechanical and thermal properties of the polymeric nanostructured at nanoscale
- to rigorously developped the kinetics models of the crosslining reaction in confined geometry using Flash DSC in collaboration with laboratory at Nice University.
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in polymer sciences, chemistry or physical chemistry with a strong background in nanocharacterization (AFM, nanoTA), surface functionalisation and should be willing to join an interdisciplinary team of materials chemists, mechanicals, and engineers.
Please submit your application – including CV, motivation letter, copies of academic qualifications and the names and contact information of two references – in electronic form as one single PDF file to Dr Pascal Carriere, Head project Manager (pascal.carriere@univ-tln.fr). The deadline for applications is September 10, 2013 or until the position is filled.
