NORMAN, OK, May 1, 2013 - SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT), the world leader in high quality, Single-Wall and Specialty Multi-Wall (SMW™) Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) is introducing three new research grade carbon nanotube products.

The new SWeNT products will now be offered to the research market by Aldrich®Materials Science, a technology growth initiative within Sigma-Aldrich.

These new grades represent the latest advancements in SWeNT's continued drive towards higher performance, lower cost carbon nanotubes tailored to meet customer needs.

SG65i is the successor to SG65, long recognized for its quality, consistency and controlled chirality, specifically its high concentration of semiconducting species. SG65i increases semiconducting concentration as a percentage of total carbon to greater than 95%, as synthesized, and has significantly higher purity than its predecessor.

"SG65i will help facilitate a new generation of low-cost, flexible printed electronic devices," explains Dave Arthur, CEO of SouthWest NanoTechnologies.  "SG65 was the original material chosen by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) as the base material for its current standard reference material for carbon nanotubes."

The new CG300 has been tailored for high conductivity in thin conductive transparent coatings. It is the active ingredient in SWeNT's conductive ink materials and is being employed in ink systems developed by others.  Its hallmarks are high conductivity and purity, low defects and ease of dispersion.

SWeNT is also introducing a new Specialty Multi-Wall (SMW™) grade, SMW200, a highly pure, defect-free material that disperses easily into polymers, making them electrically conductive.  The SMW200 morphology and low level of defects facilitate percolation at lower additive levels than with conventional MWCNT, resulting in minimal negative impact on the polymers inherent properties.   The material is also a highly suitable basis for buckypaper and filtration media.

"By providing research quantities of CNTs, Sigma-Aldrich helps to enable the essential work of the academic and corporate research communities," said Arthur. "Our materials are being widely used within the worldwide nano materials research communities and Sigma-Aldrich is instrumental in facilitating that connectivity."
