The Electron Microscopy Facility is one of the Facilities that support research projects of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne. We are a small team, enjoying a loyal and stimulating working atmosphere and are supported by an extended international network.

The activities in cell biological electron microscopy include service work, teaching, accompanying and supervising users and conducting research through collaborations. Our own projects are situated in the field of correlative light and electron microscopy as well as FIB-SEM tomography.

The electron microscopy lab houses the complete instrumentation for standard electron microscopy in biology. Further, there is cutting-edge equipment for modern cryo-electron microscopy, correlative microscopy and FIB-SEM tomography.

Your profile

PhD in Biology or related fields
Several years experience in biological electron microscopy
Excellent knowledge in specimen preparation technologies
Additionally in Tokuyasu cryo-sectioning, immunolabelling, cryo-fixation, freezesubstitution and tomography
Experience with a large variety of biological samples
Proven record of publications
Experience with 3D imaging software

The person to fill in the position must be flexible and innovative to adapt easily to new projects and challenges, persistent and patient, be able to work in a team, to help in decision making and to put the main efforts to the well-being of the lab and the team, hence to the satisfaction of our clients and collaborators.
