Sales Manager

We are currently looking for a sales savvy individual to work in our Eden Prairie, MN location and provide immediate sales management for the assigned areas.

This position will be responsible for driving sales in the assigned areas to meet or exceed the goals established in the annual Sales Plan and will report to the VP of Sales & Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities
Drive sales within defined territory by penetrating academic, governmental and industrial markets via direct and indirect sales activities. Qualify and present Hysitron’s technical solution to customers and provide ongoing follow-up. Be involved in presenting at tradeshows and workshops to promote Hysitron product line. Develop sales territory business plan. Understand territory, market, customers, technology and competition to develop sales efforts and leverage opportunities. Travel is necessary to customers and scientific conferences/trade shows.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical sales, sales related applications engineering, or product management of nano scale scientific instrumentation. Must have proven ability to influence sales with an emphasis on new markets and strengthening existing markets through advanced technology understanding and techniques relating to those applications. Candidate must have a solid applications understanding of both academic and industrial related scientific equipment type customers, and be able to relate technical information to these customers. Key emphasis will be placed on candidates who have solid interconnections with customer’s involved material development, with emphasis on mechanical property evaluation. Bachelors or Masters in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in analysis and design of materials, with an emphasis on mechanical property eveluation. · Strong consultative technical selling and customer management skills required.
Ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, energized and self-motivated, results and decision oriented. Must have a solid understanding of material properties and mechanical property testing techniques across the macro, micro, and nano scales. Excellent communication skills – written, spoken, presentation and listening with ability to explain and interpret complex issues clearly, mindful of audience. Ideal candidate will possess an extensive mixture of technical sales and applications experience in the area of nano scale scientific instrumentation.
