RMIT University is seeking applications aligned to the following research priority areas:

  • Advanced materials and fabrication: bespoke manufacturing systems and processes; modelling and simulation; functional and structural materials; smart polymers; soft matter; performance textiles; and surfaces and interfaces
  • Nanotechnology: nanofabrication, micro- and nano- devices; nanoscale sensing and sensors; integrated optics; nanoscale biophotonics, quantum optics and information processing
  • Biomedical engineering: biomedical devices and implants; tissue engineering; neural systems engineering; bionanofabrication; and biomicrofluidics

The RMIT University Vice Chancellor's Research Fellowship program is a competitive scheme and applicants are required to have a PhD and outstanding research experience in one of RMIT's research priority areas as listed above. Successful applicants will be offered either a four year Academic Level C, Senior Research Fellow or a three year Academic Level B, Research Fellow position, dependent on the level of experience and track record. At the end of the Fellowship it is expected that the Fellowship awardee will be offered a continuing position, conditional of performance criteria being met, as a teaching and research academic or a research only academic depending on School needs.

To be suitable for an Academic B it is expected that you will have an emerging track record and a national reputation for undertaking high quality research in one of RMIT's research priority areas. You will have proven capacity to plan and conduct high quality research, attract competitive funding, regularly disseminate outcomes, and have established national research networks.

To be suitable for an Academic Level C it is expected that you will have an excellent track record and international recognition for undertaking high quality research in one of RMIT's research priority areas. You will have proven ability to provide research leadership, develop networks and manage collaborative partnered research projects in a global environment.

RMIT University will provide each Fellowship awardee with research support funds and assistance to move within Australia or to Australia, providing visa and basic relocation support. In some cases it may be possible to be located at RMIT's bases in Europe or Vietnam.

Research staff at RMIT University are based in Schools and our Research Institutes and Centres provide focus and support for outcome-related multi disciplinary research that is undertaken in collaboration with leading external organisations including industry partners. These partners ensure our research outcomes make an impact.
