We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Fellow with strong research and management skills to join the International Diagnostics Centre. The successful applicant will conduct research as defined in the workplan for the LSHTM-lead Flagship in a project designed to engineer for commercialisation a new generation of nano-enabled early-warning mobile sensing systems and advanced data analysis methods to predict, diagnose and monitor infectious diseases at the point-of-care, including GP surgeries and community settings. They will assist with the detailed planning of activities for the LSHTM-lead Flagship, in collaboration with the line manager and the project management team and communicate progress. The post-holder will also prepare progress reports, scientific reports, conference presentations and publications, as well as make regular site visits to partner sites and attend project meetings.

The successful applicant for the post will have a PhD in biotechnology or a related discipline as well as relevant research experience in nanotechnology and expertise in data capture and transmission.

The post is full time, funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council for a period of 18 months and is available from 1 May 2014 to 31 October 2015. Salary is on the Academic Pathway Grade 6 scale from £36,378 to £41,313 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). Appointment of salary will normally be at the minimum of the grade.
