Research Associate - Münster, Germany

We are looking for a highly motivated research post-doc fellow to work on the EU funded project “Nano3Bio”. In this project research scientists from well renowned European universities and companies collaborate together aiming to the biotechnological production of chitosans and nanomaterials derived from them and their application in different sectors such as biomedicine and cosmetics.
The post is at the Nanobiotechnology Group at the Institute for Plant Biology and Biotechnology to start on 01.06.2014 and it is for one year duration with possibility of extension.

Full-time, TVL 13 E
Currently, the regular full employment time is 39 hours and 50 minutes per week.
All posts can, as a rule, also be filled as part-time positions if there are no compelling work-related reasons against doing so.
Teaching load is 4 hours per week for a full-time postion.
Your tasks:
• Development of innovative “soft” nanostructured material platforms (nanoparticles, nanocapsules, nanogels) from biotechnologically-produced chitosans with a focus on new applications
• Characterization of the biophysical properties: size distribution, zeta potential, morphology, stability, drug and gene association and release properties
• Characterization of the biological performance: cytotoxicity, TEER, drug permeability, cellular uptake and intracellular trafficking, FACS, CLSM
• Taking over responsibilities on the organizational level
• Presentation of the project results at scientific meetings and within the consortium
• Drafting of reports/patents/papers
• Supervision of MSc and PhD students
Your profile:
• PhD in an appropriate field of material/life sciences
• Interdisciplinary experience in the interface between nano- and biotechnology and its application and new approaches in biomedical and health care fields will be highly desirable
• Ability in taking initiative and work independently is essential
• Structured and goal-oriented work, responsibility, organizational skills, high reliability and flexibility to work in a interdisciplinary and multi-cultural international team
• Quick learner
• Team player
• Very good command of English. For non-native German speakers: Knowledge of German (B2) will be a surplus
