Are you interested to work at the crossroads between biology, chemistry, physics and materials engineering? The Biosurfaces Lab at CIC biomaGUNE is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to fill the vacancy of a research assistant in the framework of an ERC Starting Grant project on biological hydrogels.

     The research team is multidisciplinary, at the crossroads between surface and materials engineering, biology, physical chemistry and soft matter physics. The Richter Lab combines novel approaches of surface biofunctionalization and state of the art analytical techniques to create biomimetic supramolecular architectures, for the study of fundamental biological questions and for biotechnological and biomedical applications.

     CIC biomaGUNE (www.cicbiomagune.es) is a dynamic research center with a state of the art research program at the interface between the chemical, biological and physical sciences with a main emphasis on molecular scale properties and applications of biological nanostructures. It offers excellent working conditions and is well equipped with instrumentation and facilities.

     San Sebastian is a pleasant city located directly at the Atlantic coast and surrounded by a sensational environment of hills and mountains full of tradition and nature. The city is close to the French border, showing a dynamic cultural scene and renowned for its Basque cuisine.

     The applicant should have keen interest in multidisciplinary work in an international research environment. He/she should have a degree (MSc or equivalent) in biochemistry or related fields. Solid experience with protein expression and purification, and cell culture, is required. Research experience is an advantage.

     Responsabilities will include the development of protein expression and cell culture, and work with surface functionalization and analysis techniques. More experienced candidates may also be given the opportunity to develop their own research projects within the research lines of the Richter Lab.

     Terms of Employment. The successful candidate will be hired by CIC biomaGUNE for 18 months, extendable depending on performance. The project can be started immediately. The working language is English.
