The Board of Electors to the Professorship in Electrical Engineering invite applications for this Professorship from persons whose work falls in the general field of Electrical Engineering to take up appointment on 1 October 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates should have an outstanding research record of international stature in Electrical Engineering and the leadership, experience, and enthusiasm to build on the current size and success of Electrical Engineering at Cambridge.

Since its foundation in 1875, the Department of Engineering has grown to become the largest department in the University and the largest integrated engineering department in the UK. World rankings place Engineering and Technology at Cambridge at number one in Europe, above every institution outside the USA, and competing with the very best in USA. Electrical Engineering is the largest division of the Engineering Department with 13 Professors, 27 Faculty, 60 post-doctoral researchers and 170 research students with an annual research income of £6M in 2012/2013. Electrical Engineering pursues fundamental electrical, electronic and photonic research at the material, device and system levels with a focus on creating integrated solutions in the fields of nanotechnology, sensing, energy generation, energy conversion, displays and communications.

The Professorship can cover any branch of Electrical Engineering including Electronics, Nanotechnology, Photonics, and Power Engineering. Candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
