Henkel, the world market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface technologies, is known for innovative chemistry and materials as the backbone of its product lines. Henkel products address many important markets, such as the packaging, automotive and electronics industries as well as craftsmen and consumers. Committed to keeping its innovation pipeline filled with new products, Henkel is constantly devising and developing new active compounds, technologies, processes and raw materials, both in-house and in collaboration with partners. To further strengthen its ties to research institute, Henkel Adhesive Technologies has created in 2012 a new research laboratory in collaboration with ICN2. Henkel is looking for a talented scientist with an interest in industrial research to support a challenging R&D project.

The Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (http://www.icn2.cat/) (ICN2) is a private foundation created on 11 July 2003 with the objective of becoming a world-renowned centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology research. It is part of CERCA, the network of Research Centres launched by the Catalan Government as a cornerstone of its long-term strategy to foster development of a knowledge-based economy. ICN2's research lines focus on the newly discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the fascinating behaviour of matter at the nanoscale.

Job description:

We seek a Postdoctoral researcher candidate holding a PhD degree in chemistry, physics, material science or chemical engineering or related fields with strong materials science background. Candidates having robust background experiences in polymer science (thermosets, thermoplastics, resin formulation know how) with physical properties such as mechanical, rheological, adhesion, surface/interfacial materials characterizations, nanotechnology, imprint lithography and composite, would be a plus. You enjoy application-oriented experimental work and are proficient in documenting your results. Due to our strong international focus, good English communication skills are essential. An open minded and self-motivated personality is important, as well as the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team and eager to learn hyphenated techniques or cutting edge characterization technology.

The researcher will be working in close collaboration with the nanofabrication division leader of ICN2. The contract will be funded through a collaborative project with HENKEL.
