Four (4) postdoctoral research positions in theoretical chemistry and materials are available immediately in the research groups of Thomas D. Sewell and Donald L. Thompson in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The positions are in the areas of (1) dynamics and spectroscopy of condensed phase organic materials subjected to intense electromagnetic radiation, (2) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of dynamically loaded nanoscale, bulk, and defective materials and material interfaces, and (3) development of dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) methods for materials undergoing chemical reactions. Demonstrated experience with theoretical methods development in one or more of these areas and code-developer-level knowledge of Fortran, C, or a related language are required. Experience with MPI-based parallel code development in F90 or C++ is desirable, as is experience developing or adapting MD force fields. Individuals lacking code development skills or whose experience is limited to performing calculations using unmodified off-the-shelf codes will not be considered. Applicants should submit a full CV that includes contact information for three references to sewellt(a)missouri.edu and thompsondon(a)missouri.edu; include the words “theoretical chemistry postdocs” in the subject line of the e mail.
