Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in theoretical condensed matter physics at the Institute of Physics, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary.

The successful candidate will theoretically investigate electronic properties of carbon-based (nanotube and graphene) solid-state systems for quantum information processing. Further possible research fields are: (1) coupling of electron spins (spin qubits) to nanomechanical systems in the quantum regime, (2) topological effects in solid-state systems and their potential in quantum information processing. Further information on ongoing research activities can be found at http://andraspalyi.web.elte.hu .

Applicants already holding a PhD and researchers close to obtaining their PhD degree are both encouraged to apply. The proposed (but flexible) starting date of the position is September 1, 2012. It is not a requirement to hold the PhD at the starting date of the position. Hungarian citizens as well as researchers from abroad are encouraged to apply.

Applications including a CV and a publication list of the applicant, as well as informal inquiries, may be addressed to Dr. Andras Palyi (andraspalyi(a)caesar.elte.hu). The application deadline is April 15, 2012. If the position is not filled by this time, additional applications will be considered.
