A postdoctoral research associate position in the area of scanning probe microscopy and applications is available, subject to the availability of funds, in the Chemistry Department at Wright State University starting on or after July 1, 2014.  The position will be for one year.  A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a closely related discipline is required prior to the date of hire.  ABDs and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.  Experience in design or construction of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) instrumentation is highly desired. Experience in high pressure systems and hardware interfacing is also a plus. The postdoctoral researcher will work effectively under the supervision and mentorship of Prof. Steven R. Higgins and will develop a high pressure, high temperature atomic force microscope, conduct experiments in force spectroscopy, present research results at national and/or international conferences, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to research proposal preparation.  Collaborative opportunities in this position are available with The College of William and Mary.  Applicants must submit a cover letter, CV (including list of publications), and names and contact information for three references to Prof. Steven R.
