Ref: R-587389/WWW

Closing date for receipt of applications: Fri, 27 Feb 2015 17:00:00 GMT

The position is based in the Surface Science Research Centre, an interdisciplinary research centre within the School of Physical Sciences. You will join the research group of Professor Andrew Hodgson, using low temperature, 6K scanning probe microscopy (Createc STM / AFM) and other UHV surface science techniques to investigate how water bonds at a solid interface, the reactivity and wetting of metal surfaces and how simple adsorbates are hydrated. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with other groups, e.g. investigating electron transport through molecular wires. You should have, or be about to receive, a PhD in a physical science (e.g. physics or chemistry) and expertise in state of the art, UHV scanning probe measurements. Experience of surface science and other surface analysis techniques, such as LEED, would be advantageous. The post is available for 2 years from date of appointment. Further details can be found at the link below, or by contacting Prof Hodgson <ahodgson@liverpool.ac.uk>
