Due to a major expansion of, and capital investment in, the Manchester X-ray Imaging Facility we are advertising three positions to join a large team of academics, technical staff and post-doctoral fellows. One will be developing in situ x-ray imaging of the degradation of composite materials and of other engineering materials (EPS-05705), one will be developing multiscale imaging linking X-ray imaging to electron microscopy (EM) to forensically investigate damage at a range of scales (EPS-05704 – this position), and the third will be developing algorithms and the in situ experimental hardware for fast acquisition dynamic X-ray CT (EPS-05706). A particular emphasis for all posts will be on the development of time lapse computed tomography to follow experiments in situ. In all cases you will be working with an international network of collaborators using state of the art facilities.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline. Expertise in image analysis procedures and experience of working with X-ray CT or EM is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
