Postdoctoral position, University of Nottingham

A postdoctoral position funded by the Leverhulme Trust is available in the research group of Professor Katharine Reid at the University of Nottingham. The project will involve the measurement of time-resolved photoelectron images from small polyatomic molecules and the influence that laser-induced alignment has on the anisotropy of such images. The experiments will use a custom ultrafast laser system together with a velocity-map imaging spectrometer; a significant part of the project will also involve data analysis. Candidates must have a PhD in physical chemistry or chemical physics and must have experience with operating ultrafast laser systems. Experience with nanosecond pulsed lasers, velocity map imaging, inversion techniques and Matlab programming will be an advantage.

Salary will be within the range £27,854 - £33,320 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.  The start date is subject to negotiation but the position must be taken up by September 1st 2013 and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor K L Reid, tel: +44 115 951 3446 or Email: Katharine.Reid@Nottingham.ac.uk.  Further information on research in the group can be found at: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/chemistry/people/katharine.reid.

Candidates should send a detailed CV, together with the names and addresses of three referees, by email to Professor K L Reid, Katharine.Reid(a)Nottingham.ac.ukClosing date: 30 June 2013.
