PostDoctoral position


in molecular biology, protein engineering & biophysical studies within a joint research project between the Schiller group (FRIAS) and the Schaaf group (USIAS). The ideal candidates sought are young researchers with a PhD degree (preferably in bioengineering, molecular biology or biochemistry with interests in biophysical analytics) and should have very good grades.

The research project concerns the design of protein based bionanotechnological systems which respond to mechanical stimuli selectively. This nano-mechano-transduction of protein-based systems on macromolecular surfaces, requires the design and biosynthetic production of proteins as well as their biochemical characterization. They constitute the basis for the design, preparation and analysis of stimulus responsive macromolecular surfaces selectively modified with these proteins analysed with surface sensitive techniques. Research areas/topics include: molecular biology, protein engineering and biophysical analysis (e.g. AFM, fluorescence techniques).

Applicants are expected to conduct own research, to participate in research and to support in administrative activities concerning the project.

The position is funded for 2 years starting now or until September 30th 2015 and does not involve any obligatory teaching. The salary is according to the French and German public service scale.
