Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Chemistry

A postdoctoral position in Theoretical Chemistry / Chemical Physics is available in the group of Prof. Michael Thoss at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, Interdisciplinary Center for Molecular Materials of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.

The research project involves the theoretical investigation of photophysical properties and dynamical processes in novel molecular materials with applications to organic photovoltaics. Topics include the characterization of building blocks of molecular materials using high-level electronic structure calculations as well as modeling and dynamical simulation of photoinduced charge and energy transfer processes. The project is part of a close collaboration with experimental groups from surface science, laser physics, physical and organic chemistry. Recent publications and a description of ongoing projects in the group can be found at http://thcp.nat.uni-erlangen.de.

The position can be filled immediately. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement.

Applicants should hold a PhD in theoretical chemistry or theoretical chemical physics and have substantial experience with high-level electronic structure calculations for excited states (e.g. MCSCF/MRPT, CC, MRCI, GW/BSE methods). Furthermore, experience with QM/MM hybrid methods or a background in quantum reaction dynamics will be of advantage.

Interested candidates are invited to send their application including a CV, list of publications, a statement of qualifications relevant for the position, and names and contact information of three references via email to michael.thoss@physik.uni-erlangen.de.
